Mrs. Ibukun Awosika is the founder of The Chair Centre Ltd, a market leader in the office furniture and banking security systems industries. In 2005, she was appointed the MD/CEO of Sokoa Chair Centre Ltd, a joint-venture company she promoted with Sokoa S.A of France, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, The Chair Centre Ltd, and some local investors after the ban on importation of furniture by the Federal government of Nigeria in 2004.
In addition, she independently established another ultra-modern furniture facility, Furniture Manufacturers’ Mart, in Ikeja, Lagos in the latter part of 2006. The latest additions to her entrepreneurial exploits are the opening of branches of The Chair Centre Ltd in Accra (Ghana), Tinapa and Calabar (South eastern Nigeria).
Mrs. Awosika is on the Board of Trustees of Women in Management and Business (WIMBIZ). She is also the Chairperson of Intermac, the organisers of SmartCard Conferences in Nigeria. She also sits on a number of boards including Cadbury Nigeria Plc, First Bank Nigeria Plc, FBN Life Assurance and member of Lagos University Governing Council.
She is the Chairman of Afterschool Graduate Development Centre (AGDC), a national career centre in Lagos, Nigeria, which was set up in September 2007 to address the high rates of unemployment in the country by making Nigerian graduates employable and good assets to the Nigerian economy.
Mrs. Ibukun Awosika is an ordained pastor at The Fountain of Life Church. She is also the Founder of Christian Missionary Fund, a non-governmental body dedicated to raising support for Christian missionaries across the country.
She is the host of a popular television programme, Business – His Way, where she shares ethical business values and principles, distilled from The Holy Bible, with the business community in Nigeria and neighbouring countries. The telecast is presently transmitted on seven TV stations.
Mrs. Awosika is a fellow of the Aspen Global Leadership Network and a multiple award-winning entrepreneur; the Promoter and Investor of Furniture Manufacturers Mart, a company that provides furniture processing services for various categories of furniture manufacturers. She is currently setting up SCC ALGON providing metal based component for the furniture manufacturing and related industries and The Furniture Village Cluster, a joint venture with the Ogun State Government to provide infrastructure, skills and support to a cluster of SME firms with similar raw material requirements.
She is a graduate of Chemistry from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She is also an alumna of the Chief Executive Programme of Lagos Business School as well as the Global Executive MBA Programme of the prestigious IESE Business School, Barcelona, Spain. She is married to Abiodun Awosika, and their marriage is blessed with three sons.
